NOVA is a series I would one day like to make into a show. I consider it to be my passion project. It follows Nova, the princess of her planet, Verulia, on her journey to become stronger, learn to use her powers, and defeat the forces of evil with her friends Cygnus and the Star League.
The character design of Nova focuses on characters with diverse identities and appearances, as well as taking traits from the interstellar objects, constellations, or concepts they are named after.
Nova – the protagonist of NOVA, she is the princess of Verulia and harnesses the power to transform into Supernova!Cygnus – the co-protagonist, Cygnus is based off the constellation Cygnus and is part swan. She is an archer in training for the Star League.Andromeda – Nova’s big sister, and the leader of the Star LeagueAquarius – based off of the constellation, Aquarius is a strong hydrokenetic. She uses her hydrokenesis to substitute as a head of hair, because she struggles with Alopecia Areata.Auriga – Based off the constellation, which is the charioteer, Auriga pilots the Starlight Cruiser, the ship of the Star League.Supernova – Nova’s transformed, powered-up form!Nix – The big baddie of Nova’s world.Ultraviolet – The other big baddie, and Nix’s husband.Charon – A member of Nix’s Pluto fleet, together with Kerberos, she is a henchman for Nix’s schemes.Kerberos – a member of Nix’s Pluto Fleet, he works with Charon to carry out Nix’s schemes.Musca – based on the constellation, they are part fly, and are the head technician of the Star League.Taurus – Andromeda’s girlfriend, and the trainer of the Star League’s trainees.Virgo – the agricultural manager of the Star League, she makes sure food is growing and served in the ship’s cafeteria.Castor – one of the two Gemini twins, she volunteers with Virgo in the cafeteria.Pollux – one of the two Gemini twins, he is much more laid back (to his sister’s dismay)Sagittarius – based on the constellation, he is a centaur, and an archer.Scorpio – based on the constellation, they are part scorpion, and are the guitarist in a band (despite their claws).Anti-Nova – an anti-hero alternate version of Nova from a mirror dimension.
Various Designs
These are various character designs I have made that do not necessarily fit into their own big series like NOVA does.
246 Planet Girls – These 3 are based on the song of the same name by Yoko Oginome. They’re intergalactic crime fighters who answer to the calls of the 246 Network. They’re named after 3 dwarf planets in the solar system, and are based on various 80s anime series, especially Dirty Pair.Battleground Sakura – These are characters I came up with many many years ago, and they are very heavily based on the anime Magic Knight Rayearth. Niteru (pink), Rei (blue) and Mei (Rei) are warriors who fight evil using big swords, magic bows and arrows, and mystical shields. Blaze the Cat and Marine the Raccoon Gijinkas – a “gijinka” is a human design of a fictional character/concept. Blaze and Marine are Sonic the Hedgehog characters, and I wanted to imagine them as humans. Blaze is Indian, due to the heavy respective cultural influence in her design, and Marine is a pacific islander.Frye Redesign – I wanted to experiment with changing up Frye from Splatoon’s design. I leaned in more to her cultural influences, giving her an eel sari, and a bindi, as well as adding more elements of her that aren’t a part of her full design, like her eel mask.Shadow the Hedgehog Gijinka – similar to the Blaze and Marine gijinkas, I did the same thing with Shadow. I based a lot of his design on the fact that he is a biker as well as how his air shoes function similarly to roller blades.
